Parents' Choice Award
Parents' Choice Award is an award presented by the non-profit Parents' Choice Foundation to recognize "the very best products for children of different ages and backgrounds, and of varied skill and interest levels."〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Parents' Choice Awards )〕 It is considered a "prestigious" award among children's products, and has been described as the industry equivalent of an Academy Award. Awards are given out in the following categories: audio, books, DVD, magazines, computer software, television, toys, and video games.
The awards are determined by a committee of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and children. Approximately 20% of items submitted to the committee will receive an award of some kind.〔
Applying for a Parents' Choice Award requires an entry fee (ranging from $100 to $350 as of 2015) and If award recipients wish to use the seal in their own marketing and promotion (website, box art, advertisements) they must pay an additional fee to Parents' Choice Foundation.
